Selection Process
Go Solar Mackellar advised me to obtain three quotes. Once I started Googling solar quotes, my Facebook feed was full of ads for solar installation comparison websites. I used solarquotes.com.au for two quotes. The third quote was from a company I found myself using Google.
Reason for Selection
Peter Henry from Solar Pro visited my property and seemed more knowledgeable and attentive to detail than the other company that visited. He also took photos, but the other company didn’t. I visited Solar Pro’s showroom in Allambie, which was very convenient. My third quote was provided over the phone. Although it is impressive that they can quote without visiting, this process didn’t fill me with confidence.
Outcome
I’m expecting a return on initial outlay in around six years, but judging by my first reduced bill, this might happen sooner. I’ve only had the panels for two winter months, so I look forward to summer. One-third of my consumption is from the panels. I don’t have a battery and find using my washing machine, dryer and dishwasher during daylight hours very easy.
What I would do differently
I wouldn’t bother with the other two quotes. I should have just trusted Guy’s testimonial.
