Selection Process

Used ‘SolarQuotes’ to get proposals from 3

companies. One company quoted based on GPS view of roof. Another came for a brief visit.

Solar Pro came to the house for a detailed

inspection, and I also visited their show room in Frenchs Forest.

Reason for Selection

Whilst we have a north facing roof, it is partly

shaded at certain times of the day, particularly

in winter. It was therefore important for the

panels that were not shaded to keep generating electricity for as long as possible.

Solar Pro were very good in talking through the pros and cons of different systems, which led to the final selection.

Outcome

The panels generate around 110% of electricity

consumed during summer and 33% during winter.

Overall my electricity / fuel costs reduced by

75% after installing panels. Expect a return on

the initial outlay over around 4 years.

What I would do differently

The panels generate 7.56 kW (in best sun) and

the inverter can generate 6.0 kW.

As I bought an electric car soon after installing

panels, I could use more power. I would have

added extra panels with a bigger inverter to

achieve around 9.0 kW.
